Services

  • +/- 40 - 50 sterilisations are done/day as well as minor treatments. Al animals are also vaccinated and dewormed.

This done in collaboration with many partners to whom we are infinitely grateful and thank full for. These, often ladies, give their time and efforts for free to the communities they live in. Our projects also need the help of local authorities to supply us with a venue. Sadly, bureaucracy and power games are always at play and it is a constant struggle to get co-operation from municipalities to provide a facility to do this necessary work. Animal care is just not a priority it seems.

  • The not so pleasant part of our job is to euthanize animals who are badly treated, sick and old. In the words of Collette Teal of Karoo Animal Protection Society: "I'm never sure who are the lucky ones', those who go back to their owners or those we relieve of their miserable lives" We do believe that euthanasia is a way of relieving suffering and pain, but never taken for granted and seen as an easy way out.

  • A poorly looked after animal is often due to ignorance other than cruel intent. Advice about feeding, parasite control and common ailments is given when needed. Most owners seem to care and just need some guidance as how to look after their pets.

Many of our patients are riddled with ticks and fleas and at after every operations they are sprayed with Frontline, kindly donated by Meriel to keep them parasite free for a while and hopefully prevent tick borne deceases like biliary (tick fever)
