The South African Veterinary Association Community Veterinary Care initiative was launched in 1998 to promote primary healthcare in poor communities. To date thea are 12 such organisations in South Africa focusing on sterilisations, paracite control, vaccinations and euthanasias of sick and neglected animals. EberVet CVC started in Sept 2006 by Dr Hilldidge Beer. She and her team of dedicated animal lovers currently runs projects in association with other welfare organisations such as Karoo Animal Protection Society, Aberdeen SPCA, Knysna AWS, Hottentots Holland AWS, Lambert Bay AWS, Overberg Petcare Society, PETS and Pet Pals.
